Research interests

Our main line of research focuses on the study of cell wall remodelling during plant growth in extension and the functional analysis of cell wall proteins related to this process. We are also analysing the function of cell wall proteins of the 10950 family (PF10950) in plant development. In general we study:

– Functional analysis of plant cell wall proteins (β-galactosidases, expansins, pectinases, XTH).

– Cell wall remodelling during plant development, mainly in length growth.

– Legume cell wall ST proteins (DUF2775, PF10950, proteins with tandem repeats, function in the plant).

– Arabidopsis and legume cell wall SST proteins (DUF2775, PF10950, function in the plant).

Currently, we are focusing on 2 specific lines:

– Functional analysis of β-galactosidases from Cicer arietinum and the a1 subfamily of β-galactosidases from Arabidopsis thaliana and their role in cell wall remodelling.

– Study of PF10950 proteins. Determination of their hitherto unknown function in the development of the legumes Cicer arietinum and Medicago truncatula and the brassicacea Arabidopsis thaliana.
